October 7, 2011
Despite decades of development policy and billions of dollars spent on foreign aid, we have not been able to bring economic growth, health and prosperity to African countries. Stimulating the broken economies and health systems in developing countries apparently warrants a different approach.
During the symposium on October 7th 2011 international experts from academia, government, non-governmental organizations, private sector and financial institutions discussed how donors, public policy and private partners could work together to address the prevailing market failures that inhibit economic and social development, specifically in relation to health and health systems. (Report of the Symposium: When Markets Fail Strategies for Health, Development and Investment, 2011)
The seminar was organized together with PharmAccess and was picked up by the second largest Dutch newspaper ‘de Volkskrant’ (read the article in Dutch / English).
