Godelieve de Bree

Godelieve de Bree is consultant internal medicine with subspecialty infectious disease and clinical immunology. Since 2013 she is affiliated at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development and the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. Her current clinical work involves general infectious diseases and clinical immunology, specifically immune deficiencies.

Before moving in research towards the HIV field, Godelieve obtained her PhD on immunology on the subject of memory T cell responses specific for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza in the human lung in 2006. After a post doc in 2009 and 2010 at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in Oxford and in Guinea-Bissau on the subject of HLA-B15 restricted T cell and NK cell responses in HIV-2, she is currently involved in studies on the properties of the immune response response in acute HIV infection. Since 2013 Godelieve is coordinating the recently initiated HIV Transmission Elimination AMsterdam (H-TEAM) initiative aiming at improving prognosis of HIV infected individuals and reducing HIV transmission in Amsterdam.
