Robin Wood (Professor of Medicine University of Cape Town and Desmond Tutu HIV Centre, South Africa) is a world-renown clinical scientist in the field of HIV and TB, doing groundbreaking research on understanding transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Sabine HermansEpidemiology of tuberculosis in Cape Town
Sabine Hermans (Department of Global Health, AMC/University of Cape Town, South Africa) is completing her Marie Curie postdoc project on understanding the epidemiology of TB in Cape Town, a city with one of the highest TB incidences in the world.

Andrew KerkhoffAnaemia and HIV-associated tuberculosis
Andrew Kerkhoff completed his PhD on Anaemia and HIV-associated tuberculosis in South Africa  (to be defended 21 June 12:00, Agnietenkapel) in a joint project between the University of Cape Town, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the AMC Department of Global Health. His work focuses on the predictive value of anaemia for HIV-associated TB and/or mortality and means of rapid TB diagnosis, the mechanisms underlying anaemia in patients with HIV-associated TB and therapeutic interventions.
